Business Development Director – Infrastructure

Salary: Above Market Salary. Ref#AP795. Our client is recognised as one of the leading international consulting engineering practices and has been responsible for some of the world’s most iconic structures and projects around the world. They specialise in the providing planning, design and management services for infrastructure development around the world and have undertaken commissions in over 70 countries from a network of more than 60 offices.

They currently require a Business Development Director to form part of the regional infrastructure business group which is responsible for delivering the business group financial and performance targets and providing the strategic vision and dynamic leadership to the business group across the Middle East.

The Business Development Director has particular responsibility for leading the regional business group on the development and expansion of the client base and overall growth of the business. Reporting to the business group Regional Director, the Business Development Director is accountable for:

• Providing leadership and management for the development of the business group growth strategy on a local and regional level.
• The identification and development of new opportunities within the infrastructure sector.
• Liaising with the Regional Director and other senior managers to help formulate the specific goals for the business and identify key performance measures.

The key areas of responsibility for the position include but are not limited to:
• Ensure the quality of proposals across the business group are developed to the highest standard and maintained and advise others on the preparation of proposals for major projects.
• Develop contacts with potential partners and clients, including involving other parts of the company whenever there are opportunities to be pursued.
• Work with the Commercial Director to identify opportunities for new and innovative contract relationships with clients.
• Maintain awareness of technical and economic/political developments affecting potential future markets or services offered by the business group in the region and locally.
• Monitor expenditure and performance against budgets and targets for all business development and marketing activities in the Business Group.
• Work with the Regional Director and Commercial Director in regard to the commercial and risk considerations applicable to proposals throughout the group.

Skills Required:
To be successful in this role applicants will need to have:

• A minimum of five years experience in securing and developing successful business strategies across the Middle East.
• Strong leadership of multi-cultural teams.
• Strong expertise in networking, opportunity identification and proposal process.
• A detailed knowledge of clients and business opportunities in the Middle East region.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• A proven ability to deliver outputs to the required quality, on time and to budget.
• Degree qualified Chartered Civil Engineer or equivalent in a related field.
